After wandering aimlessly through the parking lot for more than an hour yesterday, I realized that I am in serious need of a vacation. I passed the Girl Scouts selling cookies at least six times. They gave their spiel forgetting that I had already turned them down five times. One little girl recognized me and asked me, “Are you lost?”
Did you say “vacation”?
I leave for Virginia tomorrow to visit my cuz. I am excited about the adventures that are ahead! Andy and I always have fun when we get together.
My cuz, a nature enthusiast like myself, plans to properly introduce me to Virginia through hiking and backpacking. This will mark my first trek on the Appalachian Trail!
I have already started my big “to do” list. There is just so much to see and do and not nearly enough time (I will only be staying until Sunday).
Pictures, pictures and more pictures …
Thanks to modern advances in cameras, pictures will not be in short supply. Of course, the lack of a digital camera never stopped me before. My sister loves to tell the story of the Alaskan cruise where I filled more than 20 rolls of film (24-36 exposures each). The cruise was only 7 days long! I have at least a dozen pictures of a life saver on the front of the ship.
My mind went on vacation without me …
Since my mind already checked out months ago, I am hoping that my brain and body will again meet on one of the many trails. I have faith in the beauty of Virginia to help revive my intellect. If not, I am on a downward slope into stupidity. I can barely form cohesive sentences!
