I have a place to live …
Surprisingly, my new apartment is in a decent neighborhood and the rent is under $500 a month. The apartment staff did not want to rent to an unemployed college student, but they made an exception.
The negatives …
The apartment does not have a washer/dryer, dishwasher or central air/heat. It is also located on the third floor.
If washing my clothes at my mom’s is the sacrifice I have to make for cheap living, then count me in. Handwashing my dishes may suck, but there are worse chores in life.
3 commentsThe proper way to say goodbye
With my last weekend coming to a close, I am overcome with a new realization. I am really leaving Florida.
All the joy of moving home to family and friends has completely clouded my vision to the plain and simple truth of the situation -Â I am about to make a big change. My life is about to be turned inside out. I have absolutely no clue what my life will look like in two months, two years, 10 years.
I remember feeling this way before … Read more

Two more weeks …
Knowing that I will be broke and unemployed in two weeks has made me the happiest woman alive. I am not sure why I did not do this sooner.
What is the best way to celebrate unemployment?
As I sat on the beach Saturday … wind slapping me in the face … sand ripping at my flesh … I made a decision. Â

This is the move that never ends,
Yes, it goes on and on my friends …
In July, I moved yet another time. It took me exactly a week to find a place, pack and move. It was almost perfect.
But, not quite …

It is the sound of settling …
Never settle for anything in life less than extraordinary. This has been my philosophy for as long as I have known. And, yes, I did rip it off of a cheesy movie.
I do not always follow my own philosophy and have been known to let a few chances at happiness slip through my hands. I even think that I am guilty of settling right now.
1 commentCool air makes me happy
From Wikipedia …
In 1928, Willis Haviland Carrier developed the first residential ‘Weathermaker’, an air conditioner for private home use.
I admire anyone who has lived without an air conditioner for more than two weeks - not just any two weeks, but two of the hottest weeks that the summer has to offer.
I have air conditioning once again! I have returned to the ranks of the rest of the human race. I am no longer drowning in a pool of my own sweat. My cats are no longer panting like salivating dogs.
The coolness is my salvation. With cool, air comes sanity. I feel so alive!
1 commentApartment issues
I am getting closer to settling in my lovely one-bedroom apartment. With one issue after another, the pessimism is starting to show.
After one day in my apartment, I discovered that the air conditioner does not work. This is also the same day I had my Internet hooked up and absolutely nothing happened. A day or so later, I was about to take a shower and discovered a hole in the tub. Two nights ago, my bathroom flooded with a strange brown liquid.
No commentsI must like to move
The smell of cardboard, packing peanuts and old newspapers still fills my new apartment. I am starting to wonder if I should keep everything I own locked away in brown cardboard boxes.
Since taking a job on Florida’s beautiful Emerald Coast two years ago, I am now happy to say that I have successfully completed my fourth move to a new place! I am actually now returning to my former apartment complex only to downsize from a two-bedroom apartment into a more than cozy one-bedroom apartment.
