Follow your heart
Logic vs. the heart …
A friend of mine recently told me that it takes a lot of courage and bravery to listen to your heart. This is not to say that you should completely abandon logic and everything that you have learned in life through experience and relationships. However, sometimes reason clouds the opportunity to discover if a feeling can really transform into something wonderful and beautiful. Read more
1 commentLearning from failure
‘Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.
-Â Â Â Alfred Lord Tennyson
There is a time in my life when I would have said that this quote is just one big nasty lie. This is probably because no one explained to me that even in failed relationships, you learn a great deal about life and who you are. Read more
1 commentDating for morons
It is amazing that two people actually get together at all. There are so many variables that go into forming connections with people that I sometimes wonder if it is worth it at all. Why do we put ourselves through torture? Help me understand … are relationships supposed to be difficult? Or, is everything supposed to magically fall into place? I suppose I have always believed in the latter, but I am starting to rethink my original theory. Am I now being more realistic or more naïve? You tell me … I am far from an expert on this particular topic. I need to make 5,000 more mistakes before I qualify for that. Read more
No commentsBrainwashed by fairy tales
As children, we are spoon fed fairy tales. This world of fantasy and make-believe becomes our reality as we listen closely waiting to find out what happens to the lady in distress. Read more
4 commentsThe anti-Valentine parade
Valentine’s Day is the Hallmark holiday that has been shoved down our throats since grade school. Could this be as bad as getting McDonald’s to sponsor report cards?
Valentines of all shapes and sizes circulate the classrooms as teachers force students to celebrate the holiday. Each student has an elaborately decorated valentine box that he or she creates from an ordinary shoe box, milk carton or whatever other creative idea the teacher happens to have at that particular moment.
Add 60 miles to that
It all comes down to numbers. Geography is just an obstacle. I would never let something as simple as miles on a map get in the way of my pursuit for happiness.Â
Contradiction starts here …
I am not a Florida gal. I have tried to like the heat, sand and sea – it is just not happening. Nothing is real here … not even the people.Â
3 commentsNever lose hope
Hope is my middle name …
We must never give up hope. Hope powers dreams and desires. It is the fuel that keeps us alive. Even when a cloud lingers longer than it should, welcome it with a smile. Rain is necessary – it cleanses the land and brings needed water to the plants for growth and renewal.

Scratch all that “make 2008 count” crap …
Despite my many attempts to bring sunshine into 2008, a large storm cloud hovers above my head mocking any effort I make towards finding happiness.
My cat is missing …
4 commentsWhat happened to happily ever after?
Romance, love, marriage, living happily ever after … Was I dreaming?
I was listening to the radio the other day, and I was horrified by the topic of discussion – divorce software.
With computers rapidly phasing out traditional forms of communication and software quickly taking over the roles of humans, it only makes sense that divorce software found its way to the market.
3 commentsOur 5 minutes together
Every person encountered in life has a purpose …
Whether you spend 3 seconds or 3 years with another human being, you are sharing moments of life together.
Don’t take this moment for granted. It could be over before you know it.
Do you understand the significance of this time? We live such short lives and this other person is giving you the most valuable gift that there is to offer – a moment of life.
Each person involved in the shared second will have very separate thoughts, feelings and memories attached. That same moment can have more or less meaning to another person. Or, what you considered a positive moment … the other person may look back on as negative.
It is easy to give up trying when you feel defeated …
How boring would life be if you shut the world out in hopes to come across the single person that exists and sees each moment as you have? Life should be spent soaking up the juices that flow from every human being … not in dwelling on the past, regrets and “what ifs.”
Just take each experience – good or bad – for what it is. It is never too late to learn from mistakes and to move on with new knowledge that will help make you a better person.
