An inferior race
I often wonder why humans continue on a downward spiral towards stupidity and laziness. I have a new theory on why this is happening.
Setting the scene …
Advances in technology and medicine are making humans live longer at diminished levels of health (and intelligence). As a result, the rest of the population is having to work harder and sacrifice to keep these people alive longer. The healthy are dealing with higher costs for gas, taxes, health care, food (not to mention chemically grown food to provide for more mouths), education, clothing, shelter, etc. Read more
5 commentsAnother damn overreaction
As people line the walls of the pediatric ER, I can’t help but laugh. For the next few weeks … maybe months, every sniffle, cough or sneeze will be treated as a symptom of the swine flu. Read more
The pizza and beer cure
All you really need is pizza and beer …
As long as these two things exist, no one can stay unhappy for long. If I could consume these day after day, I would. The feelings I get as I wash down a slice of pizza with an ice cold beer can easily be compared to that of a junkie who just received a fix. Read more
Economic crisis solved
I have taken it upon myself to try and solve all the financial problems of this country. You will find that some of the solutions I have come up with are quite simple. Hit yourself in the head 14 times for not thinking of these first … starting now! Read more
10 commentsI love boobies
I am running in the 5th annual Liz Hurley Ribbon Run on Saturday, Oct. 18. The Ribbon Run benefits the Liz Hurley Breast Cancer Fund at Huntsville Hospital Foundation. The purpose of this fund is to provide diagnostic technology and support programs that create awareness about breast cancer. Read more
My little black eye
My injuries are never exciting. I would love to say that I fought a bear, wrestled a rabid dog or defended another human being in harm. Unfortunately, I can’t tell any wild stories about this injury or any of those that came before it. My black eye is an example of my clumsiness. I hit my eye on a chair like a complete and total moron. Bloody eyeballs and aching feet
With one week under my belt as an anesthesia tech, I am feeling more confident about my decision to become a nurse. The week was not without incident and more tiring than I expected, but I made it through without losing my lunch.
It was a long week …
Having only spent time in an OR under anesthesia, I was not quite sure what to expect. I found out quickly that if I wanted to see blood, fat boogers and stomachs cut wide open, I had come to the right place. Read more
Salute to journalism
I am now a productive member of society …
I got my first job in the medical field! I start as an anesthesia tech for Huntsville Hospital on Monday.
What is an anesthesia tech?
Excellent question! I was too busy trying to make a good first impression that I forgot to ask. I am sure that whatever it is I will be great at it!
Goodbye business casual … hello scrubs!
I can finally say goodbye to journalism forever as I happily kick away the desk and slide on a pair of latex gloves.
An official salute to journalism …
This will probably make my parents proud, but I want to spread the journalism love.Â
7 commentsTime to relax
Relax?
Until recently, “relax” has always been synonymous for “lazy” in my mind. I have always preferred to spend my time more constructively. I would try to relax, but I would find at least 500 things that have to be done at that very moment or else life would cease to exist. Read more
2 commentsFast food gets a low grade
Will schools do anything to make a fast buck? Can the fast food industry sink any lower in advertising?
McDonald’s has given me reason # 11 (check out the first 10 reasons) to never eat fast food again. Apparently, McDonald’s is trying to reach customers before they are even old enough to make educated decisions.
