His last breath
My great great uncle died today at 93 years old. For those of you that know me well, this man meant the world to me. I am sad to see him go, but I know that he lived a long, happy life. I am not really sure what to say except goodbye. I love you, Uncle Gilbert. You will be missed!
Need a reason to procreate?
Forget fancy houses and expensive retirement plans. If you play your cards right, the only investment you need to make is in your kids.
Think about it … no matter how completely screwed up your life is, your kids will always bail you out (assuming you bailed them out at some point in their youth). This is unconditional love at its finest! Read more
No commentsBlog slacking
Dear loyal blog readers …
My doctor diagnosed me with “blog slacking.” This is a real disease. I am not attempting to buy time or make excuses for my lack of blog entries over the past week or so.
The truth …
I have two sets of family in town. Every moment that I am not working is spent juggling aunts, sisters, dads and step mothers.
In short, I will return to blogging after they leave. Expect an exciting blog entry on Sunday! If it sucks, you can quit reading my blog forever :(Â

Decked in holiday cheer …
My grandmother has lost touch with reality. She is trapped in another decade that continues inside her head. It is part of the disease … Alzheimer’s.

I stole a kitten from my grandmother …
This sounds much worse than it is. My grandmother has Alzheimer’s. One of her neighbors (quite aware of her disease) decided to give her a kitten. So, being the good granddaughter that I am, I stole it! Read more

Without time to share detailed encounters of my trek across Florida, I will leave you with some of my fondest memories in color. I promise to fill in more once I have settled in my new home.

I am having the strangest dreams these days …
A window in my home reveals a magnificent skyline. I gaze upon the vast landscape … a feeling of peace washes over me. The stars twinkle as the city lights invite me to take a closer look.
With my face literally pressed to the glass, a new story unfolds … a much uglier version of the truth.
I watch as two buildings tumble to the ground … fire and smoke pour from the side. My mind quickly recalls 9/11 … is it terrorists? Read more
2 commentsThe proper way to say goodbye
With my last weekend coming to a close, I am overcome with a new realization. I am really leaving Florida.
All the joy of moving home to family and friends has completely clouded my vision to the plain and simple truth of the situation -Â I am about to make a big change. My life is about to be turned inside out. I have absolutely no clue what my life will look like in two months, two years, 10 years.
I remember feeling this way before … Read more

Two more weeks …
Knowing that I will be broke and unemployed in two weeks has made me the happiest woman alive. I am not sure why I did not do this sooner.
What is the best way to celebrate unemployment?
As I sat on the beach Saturday … wind slapping me in the face … sand ripping at my flesh … I made a decision. Â
